WHY SHOULD JESUS MATTER?

Most often, our beliefs are limited to our worldview. Though most religions are confined to their teachings about life and morals, exploring this question is a breakthrough for you.

It is a common belief that we do different kinds of works to earn forgiveness and peace with God. We also consider that if we are being good people and not harming others, we are at peace with God. But let us consider the things below before we do that.

  1. 1. Humanities State:

  2. First, let us recognize the fact that we live in a broken world where people can be soo evil, with news about rape, murder, ruthless crimes and many other things are more than common. Alongside this, even all other people who are considered good are not completely capable of being good too. Though they're better, they sin too. We all have our shortcomings, and that makes all people guilty. We are all guilty of sin.

  3. Now, to understand what qualifies one for heaven and if there is any standard, we must first understand the nature of God. God is the creator and sustainer, set apart, higher than all of creation. Romans 3:23 from the Bible says that we are no match when compared to God’s standards of holiness and we all fall short of the glory of God and that God is infinitely pure and no man can reach His standard of perfection. In saying that we are unholy, it does not indicate that we engage in doing evil acts or live bad lives, but that we as humans are sinful at our core.

  4. Some religions believe that adequate good works can help us make it to heaven. In an effort to attain salvation, earn the blessings of God, and make it to heaven, certain works are believed to free ourselves of the punishment. While such a belief may feel pacifying, that our good works have outweighed the bad ones, the truth is that nothing we do can ever be enough. God, by His sovereign standards, can't stand sin and we are guilty.

  5. 2. Consequence of that state:

  6. The clear consequence of our state is hell and alienation from God, a consequence of our human free. The fallen state makes us feel empty, purposeless, and nothing we chase after really satisfies us fully. It can be unpleasant and scary to many that God would still send anyone to hell, even those who lived a good life. But it is crucial to recognize that while we are already on a path that could take us to hell by our own doing, God reaches out his hand and offers a rescue.

  7. Our Hope: “Good” doesn’t complete the equation that qualifies us for heaven. But only God’s grace and our faith in Him.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast”. (The Bible)

This redemption is only through the grace of God and can never be attained by our works, so that no one can boast of their effort in the light of God’s love for us.

Even in Biblical history, those who believed in the God of the Bible were bound to make regular sacrifices, and those sacrifices were required to be blemishes and perfect in its condition to be acceptable for the forgiveness of their sins. Because forgiveness can be brought only through the shedding of blood of a perfect sacrifice, but no number of sacrifices could fully reconcile them back to God as no sacrifice was good enough. To put an end to what could never be sufficient, only a perfect, sinless, blemishes sacrifice could pay the price for all of mankind's sins once and for all.

And nothing or no one is more perfect than God himself. or God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son as a perfect sacrifice that can wash away the sins of the world, once and for all, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

We need to face this hard truth. We’ve always created our own ways and made genuine but superficial efforts that all go in vain, in our effort to reach God. But the way to God and salvation is only by putting our faith in Jesus and what He did for us on the cross, who made a way for all who believe in Him.

Is hard for you to believe that Jesus will accept you when you come?

Jesus should matter to you because he loves you and longs for you to come to the truth of his grace and saving for you. The bible says that God wants all to be saved.

Jesus should matter to you because our works to earn forgiveness and peace with God will never be sufficient. So, God paid your price and by faith in Him and His finished work, you can be forgiven and be reconciled with God again.

Jesus should matter to you because he doesn't just love you and forgive your sins, but he doesn't leave you there in your helpless condition. He extends help by living in you, transforms your life.
